Never Underestimate the Power of a Mom on a Mission

Alana with her first baking setSo what do you do when you’ve got a husband and child with 6 different life-threatening food allergies and you’re frustrated with the lack of safe and healthy snacks for your family?  If you’ve been baking and experimenting since you got your first cake mix set at age 6, you start a food company.  At least that’s what Alana Elliott did, creating Libre Naturals (originally founded as Nonuttin’ Foods in 2002) to help families just like hers.

Beginning with 3 flavors of granola bars in her home-based business, Alana never stopped experimenting, bringing out a variety of different products and flavors over the years.  Along the way, she was able to remove more food allergens from her formulas such as gluten and soy.

In 2012, she decided to change the company name from Nonuttin’ Foods to Libre Naturals to reflect that all of the products were so much more than just nut free.  She then began the slow but sure change to offer all products in Libre Naturals packaging which will be completed by July 2016.

Alana now oversees a Canadian manufacturing facility that is free of all of the top 11 food allergens, gluten, genetically modified ingredients, preservatives, colors and artificial flavors.  She’s also achieved several 3rd party certifications including Kosher pareve (2005), Gluten Free through GFCO (2010) and SQF Level 2 Food Safety Certification to Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (2016).

Libre Naturals continues to be owned by the Elliott family who have a wonderful crew of dedicated staff who believe in Alana’s original mission to help families just like hers.
